The Lost Month

The Lost Month

Noah and I have had a busy month. Sometime at the end of January I learned to weld and realized that I'm better at it than (Noah) thought I would be. ha! A few weeks ago Noah turned 30 and he took his first flying lessing where he got to land and take off in a small plane. After the flight, I had to talk him off the ledge of signing up for his pilot's license because, you know, we have that whole tiny house to pay for. ;)

A beautiful day to create a window

A beautiful day to create a window

Can we just take a moment to appreciate those views?

Today, we were lucky to have our friends Brooke, Brad and my Bob come to help us lift the steel frame into place so we could trace the opening for the window. After that, we (Noah) took the plunge and cut the side of the trailer for the first window. Things went well and tomorrow they'll install the frame. Next stop: the REAL WINDOW installation.

The views!

What Progress?

What Progress?

As I've written about before, I often feel like we're not making progress. BUT THEN, I upload the pictures from the past few weeks and suddenly I am filled with all these warm bubbly feelings that make me PROUD. While the cold has been fighting with us these past few weeks, we've actually made a ton of progress and I am so proud of us.

Please refer to the captions for the photos above as I am too exhausted to write any more...

ALSO, we were honored to have Noah's dad, Eric, stay with us for a few days to help the progress.

On Building Walls

On Building Walls

I have received word that I'm behind in my updates; a lack in progress surely due to both an incident with my finger as well as construction complications.

A few weeks ago, as we finished the subfloor we took a step back and studied our progress. The next thing on our to-do list was going to be a big one: walls and windows. While Noah has always had a plan for the next project, we're still not sure how cutting into the aluminum sides (will) go -- will we have success or will we ruin what we've built?

What Progress Means to Me

What Progress Means to Me

Sometimes I feel defeated. Are we building something? Are the days of endless screwing nails into wood and steel ever going to end?

We finally feel like we're building something

We finally feel like we're building something

Sometimes we walk into the trailer and feel like we're right where we started. Sometimes the joists and wood just don't want to be friends and we both have to take long pauses and just breathe through it. Today though, we finished half of the joists for the floor and we feel like we're finally getting somewhere.

Noah has been collecting Makita tools for years; the collection has been growing as things move along with the project.

Progress feels nice, so, so nice.

A month a go we sat together and created this sketch. I know my drawing teacher from college would be proud...

We've got power!

We've got power!

Disclaimer: I write this now after 4 hours of screwing nails into our thermal break floor and I'm feeling a little delirious.
